I researched the problem of space debris and explored how satellites could detect and collect debris in Earth's orbit. I developed my idea for AstraClean 3.0 and prepared a basic design for the prototype. I collected electronic components, including an ESP32, Arduino Uno, IR sensor, DHT11 sensor and buzzer. I also started learning Arduino programming and working on connecting the electronic components.
How I did itFirst, I researched space debris and explored how satellites detect and collect it. Then, I prepared a basic blueprint for AstraClean 3.0 and identified the electronic components required for my prototype. I collected components such as an ESP32, IR sensor, servo motor, buzzer, and OLED display. After that, I started learning Arduino programming and understanding how to connect the components. I planned to use the IR sensor to detect an object, the servo motor to demonstrate the collection mechanism, and the OLED display to show the detection status. Throughout this process, I used online research, Arduino software, electronic components, and guidance from my mentors to develop my project.
What I learnedThe hardest part of my AstraClean 3.0 project was understanding Arduino programming and connecting the electronic components so they could work together. Sometimes, I struggled to understand the code and troubleshoot problems when the expected output did not appear. Through this experience, I learned that building a working prototype requires patience, regular practice, and problem-solving. I also understood that making mistakes is part of learning and that I need to test each component step by step instead of trying to build everything at once.
